Make your own name — Arturo Vidal chides Garnacho for celebrating like Ronaldo
Former Juventus star Arturo Vidal has encouraged Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho to carve out his own path and create his own brand and signature instead of imitating his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.
Garnacho scored what could be the best goal in his career, a stunning bicycle, in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Argentina international opted to use the moment to pay homage to his idol and former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, pulling out the ‘SUI’ celebration in a display of elation.
What Arturo Vidal said
The Chilean midfielder praised the goal but believes such moments should distinguish a footballer, and that is difficult to achieve when another player’s celebration is associated with the goal.
“The only bad thing or what I didn't understand, is why he celebrates like Cristiano,” he said on a Twitch stream, per Euro football.
"He has to make his own name. He is an already great player. It's good that he is his idol; respect for that, but then he has to make his name.
"How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know; celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal; it was a great goal."
