Manchester City goal-machine Erling Haaland has been named IFFHS Men’s World Best Player of 2023.
Haaland is only the fifth player to get their hands on the award after Marco Van Basten, Lothar Matthaus, Robert Lewandowski, and Lionel Messi.
That means legendary Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has never won this award.

The Norwegian missed out on the Ballon d'Or despite scoring 52 goals in 53 appearances for Manchester City.
The award was instead given to Lionel Messi for leading Argentina to World Cup Triumph in Qatar last year.
Haaland is currently out injured but is expected to return in the new year.
