Manchester United suffer major BLOW as Napoli star snubs club for Bayern Munich
Premier League giants Manchester United will have to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcement after losing a major target to Bayern Munich.
Napoli’s centre-back Kim Min-Jae is reportedly to ditch England in favour of a move to the Bundesliga.
According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, German champions Bayern have reached an agreement with the South Korean that will see him become a Bavarian next season.
Kim chooses Bayern over United
Romano said this via a post on his official Twitter account late Wednesday.
In his words, the Korea international has agreed to a five-year contract that will see how swap Naples for Munich this summer.
He added that with personal terms sorted between the Bavarians and Kim, Bayern just have to pay the player’s release clause.
United suffer blow
Following the report from Romano, the news of Kim’s imminentn transfer to Germany will come as a huge blow to English side Man United and their fans.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the talented centre-back all summer as manager Erik Ten Hag looks to shore up his defensive department ahead of next season.
Min-Jae has been on United’s radar following his excellent performance in a historic 2022/2023 season for Italian champions, Napoli.
The 26-year-old was a constant feature as Napoli ended a 33-year wait to lift the Serie A title last season.
United have been keen to activate Kim’s release clause this summer but would be forced to look elsewhere after he snubbed them for Bayern.
He joined Napoli last summer for £18 million from Fenerbahce, just a year after he joined the Turkish side. Kim played 45 matches for Napoli last season and scored two goals.
