Kipchoge, who has run three of the 10 fastest marathons in history, will take to the streets of London on Sunday for the first time in five years in the London Marathon.

The five-tine Berlin Marathon champion was in England recently for another marathon-sized challenge — trying to improve Manchester United.

Ratcliffe’s company, Ineos, also sponsor Kipchoge’s NN Running Team, and the double Olympic champion was asked to come and share his expertise with United’s underperforming players and staff.

Kipchoge who was happy to share his experience, told the Daily Mail: "I watched all the players in training, so I could see how it was.  I shared my experience of fitness and running, my philosophy and my thinking, because sport is about the heart and the mind.

"They are learning that, slowly, slowly. Soon they will be there. I believe Manchester United will be on fire next season."

Kipchoge 40, was also presented with a shirt by captain Bruno Fernandes and watched their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford last year.

"I support Manchester United now because of the relationship with Jim and Ineos. Now we are a family and we build together for a good football team who can produce holistic footballers."

Kipchoge’s relationship with Ratcliffe dates back to 2019, when Ineos orchestrated his attempt to become the first man to run a sub-two-hour marathon.

He successfully completed the challenge, clocking 1hr 59min 40sec in Vienna, although it did not count as a world record as it was not run under race conditions.
