Mbeumo and Wissa hit double milestones as African excellence Brighton Bees’ Easter
Brentford’s African dynamos, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, stole the show at the Gtech Community Stadium, hitting personal milestones and powering the Bees to a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in a Premier League clash.
Mbeumo opened the scoring with a cool finish, latching onto a pinpoint through-ball from Keane Lewis-Potter to slot past Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen.

The Seagulls responded just before half-time, with Danny Welbeck nodding in a cross to level the score at 1-1.
But Mbeumo wasn’t done. Early in the second half, he pounced on a wayward pass from Verbruggen, curling a stunning strike into the far corner for his 18th goal of the season, matching his combined total from the previous two campaigns.
The Mbeumo-Wissa partnership, which has now outscored all but Liverpool’s Salah-Diaz duo with 23 combined goals this season, struck again.
Mbeumo turned provider, racing down the wing and cutting back for Wissa, who rifled a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.
Brighton’s woes deepened when Joao Pedro was sent off for an elbow on Brentford’s Nathan Collins, leaving the Seagulls with ten men.
Despite a late scare from Kaoru Mitoma, who pulled one back for Brighton with a sharp finish, Brentford sealed the win through captain Christian Norgaard.

The midfielder rose highest to thunder home a header from Mikkel Damsgaard’s cross, securing three well-earned points.
Mbeumo and Wissa’s heroics marked their 18th Premier League game scoring in the same match for Brentford, a feat surpassed by only seven duos in the competition’s history.
Brentford also became the first team in Europe’s top five leagues this season to have two players, Mbeumo and Wissa, score 10+ goals at home.
The Bees’ Easter win showed their attacking flair and African excellence, leaving Brighton reeling and Brentford fans buzzing with pride.
