Miners hunt Lagos Hunters as Oga Boys still searching for First NPFL win

Ikorodu City suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a 2-1 loss to Nasarawa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday.

Despite ThankGod Chilaka scoring Ikorodu City's first-ever NPFL goal, they remain winless in the league.

Anas Yusuf and Kabir Balogun were the heroes for Nasarawa United, scoring two impressive goals to secure their first victory of the season.

The win lifts the Solid Miners out of the relegation zone, while Oga Boys remain at the bottom of the table.

The match was closely contested, with both teams creating numerous chances.

Ikorodu City had opportunities to score through Ayomide Cole and Chilaka, but Nasarawa United's goalkeeper made some crucial saves.

Nasarawa United took the lead just before halftime through Yusuf, who finished off a quick counter-attack.

However, The Lagos-based side responded quickly, with Chilaka heading home a cross from Waliu Ojeyote to level the score.

In the second half, both teams continued to push for a winning goal. Nasarawa United eventually sealed the victory through Balogun's free-kick.

The defeat leaves Ikorodu City in a precarious position, and they will need to improve their performances quickly to avoid relegation. Their next match is against Plateau United in Jos.
