Mo Salah explains why Arsenal should win the Premier League title
Fresh off winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for a historic third time, Mohamed Salah has commented on Arsenal’s Premier League chances in the 2025-26 season.
The Reds legend was part of the team that won Liverpool’s second league crown in the Premier League era by a landslide, scoring 29 goals in the process to notch a fourth Golden Boot.
That achievement saw the Egyptian equal Arsenal legend Thierry Henry for Golden Boot wins, and the forward is among the contenders for this year’s top scorer award.
Salah started strongly with a goal in Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in the opening gameweek of the season, continuing his record of scoring in the first round of the Premier League, making it 10 consecutive matchday one goals.
That victory on an emotional night at Anfield spared the blushes of Arne Slot’s side, who hope to retain the league title won last season.
Salah comments on Premier League title race
Salah, 33, who was rewarded with the PFA Players' Player of the Year award — his third after 2017-18 and 2021-22 — has now spoken on this season’s race for the title.
Observers expect Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City to be the contenders this season, and all three secured maximum points on the opening weekend, as Mikel Arteta’s men beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, while Man City wiped the floor with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in a 4-0 drubbing.
Despite Pep Guardiola’s trophy-laden career, observers are tipping Arteta’s side to be Liverpool’s primary challengers, having finished as runners-up in three consecutive years.
Salah, seemingly sarcastically, has tipped Arsenal as favourites to dethrone Slot’s team this season.
“I think you have a great team this season,” said the Liverpool star. “You have a really good chance. I think you are favourites now because you have players that have been together for five years.”
