Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has voiced his unhappiness with his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price tag for the third consecutive season, urging the game’s administrators to lower his valuation.
Despite being set as the most expensive player in the 2025/26 FPL at £14.5 million, Salah questions why he, a winger, is rated above top strikers like Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak.
Salah’s premium price reflects his record-breaking performance in the previous season where he amassed an extraordinary 344 FPL points, the highest total ever for a single season after scoring 29 goals with 18 assists. This justified his £14.5m price, a record for a midfielder in FPL.
What Mohamed Salah said
In a video posted by OfficialFPL on X, Salah called on the game’s managers to reduce his price so that more players can afford to include him in their teams.
“Put my price down so that everybody can have me in the team,” he said. He expressed puzzlement over why he is the highest-valued player: “No, put the strikers as the highest. Haaland should be the highest, Isak should be the highest. So, not a winger has to be the highest.”
Meanwhile, Haaland’s price was set slightly lower at £14.0m following a quieter campaign last season, and unsettled Isak is valued at £10.5m after an impressive goal tally.
Despite his joking complaints about his price, Salah remains a top pick among FPL managers due to his consistent point-scoring ability and his status as a favoured captain in the early gameweeks.
Over 55% of FPL teams have selected him, reflecting high confidence in his ability to deliver points. Salah himself gives a clear reason for managers to pick him: “Because I think I give them good points, guaranteed points.”
His remarks highlight a disagreement over pricing, with Salah advocating for top strikers to hold the highest valuation rather than wingers, despite his own exceptional fantasy performances.
His stance adds a unique voice to the ongoing discussions about player valuations in Fantasy Premier League ahead of the new season.
