Nigerian international Terem Moffi marked his much-awaited return to the Super Eagles with a crucial goal in Ligue 1 on Saturday, ending a 98-day goal drought.
The 26-year-old striker showed his sharpness and form, helping his club OGC Nice secure a comfortable 3-1 victory over fellow Nigerian and Super Eagles mate Gabriel Osho’s Auxerre.
Moffi’s goal sparkled as a perfect response to his recent recall by Nigeria coach Eric Chelle, who named him in a 31-man provisional squad ahead of the vital 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Coming off the bench, Moffi wasted no time, scoring in the 76th minute, just four minutes after entering the pitch.
His strike sealed Nice’s first win of the season in this early stage of the campaign, earning well-deserved praise from the official Ligue 1 account, which celebrated it as
“First goal of the season for Moffi!” the Ligue 1 stated in a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

This goal also was Moffi’s first for Nice since May 17, 2025, when he scored in a resounding 6-0 win against Brest.
With renewed confidence, Moffi looks set to build on this momentum as Nice prepare to face Le Havre next weekend, before he joins the Super Eagles squad for international duty.
The striker’s return to goals and national team action comes at a crucial juncture as Nigeria prepare for their World Cup qualifying campaign, with Moffi expected to play a key role in their quest for qualification.
