'Our mentality is to step outside our comfort zone' - Enrique wants improvement from his team
Last season league winners Paris Saint Germain claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Nantes in their Ligue 1 opener.
Despite the Parisians were not at their best, they secured three points to start the season.
What Enrique said
The manager went on to discuss what his players need to work on in the coming months, as reported by Abola.
"Journalists are always concerned about physical and mental condition. This is the beginning of the league; we prepared the players the way we did. If I have to assess my players, I think we played a very good match, and I'm happy with that," said Enrique.
"Regardless of the coach, our job is to improve the team individually and collectively. That's my goal as a manager. I think we still lack a certain feel for the ball. This is more important than physical preparation. The players are young, they have ambition. Regaining that feeling with the ball, playing our style of football – that's the most important thing for me," added Enrique.
The reigning champions' coach also commented on the new players' adaptation to the team. "The players we've brought in will be very useful. Chevalier and Zabárny played very well today. We know them; we believe they are players who can improve the squad. This was the first game; we are calm and confident," Enrique noted.
He also mentioned the qualities required of all players wearing the Parisian jersey. "To win trophies and achieve success like last year, we need all players to be highly motivated and fully prepared. That's a prerequisite for being a PSG player," Enrique added.
"I'll try to keep doing the same. But to be ambitious, we have to change some things. With the players we've signed, we can have even more possibilities. Our mentality is to step outside our comfort zone. We will try to improve," concluded Enrique. The coach concluded by saying he won't drastically change his approach but will continue to refine his work.
