Real Madrid go silent on Ballon d'Or nominations despite having three player on shortlist

Real Madrid has pointedly remained silent on the Ballon d'Or nominees, Spanish media have observed.

In the previous award, Vinicius Junior was considered a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or, but news broke on the eve of the ceremony that the award would go to Manchester City midfielder Rodri, infuriating Real Madrid's management.

No one from Real Madrid attended the gala in Paris. The club even cancelled a nearly five-hour special program about the Ballon d'Or planned for RMTV.

Three Los Blancos players—Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham—were included in the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious individual football award, revealed yesterday, as reported by Sportal.

Despite this, Real Madrid's social media channels have not acknowledged their players' nominations in any of the categories, unlike virtually every other club.

This year's ceremony will be held on September 22nd, and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will be represented in Paris this time around.
