Remo Stars U-18s Beyond Limits press NPFL Babes to submission
Remo Stars Academy boys Beyond Limits are through to the semifinals of the Valuejet Cup pre-season after another impressive outing.
Beyond Limits outclassed the NPFL side, Abia Warriors, in the final game of the group stage to book a spot in the last four on Sunday morning.
The Sky Blues were no match for their senior colleagues following a dominant 2-0 win at the Remo Stars training pitch in Ikenne.
Beyond Limits vs Abia Warriors: Brief
After taking two points in their first two matches, the Remo boys were hoping to earn a first win that will see them make it out from a group that’s dominated by NPFl clubs.
On their part, Abia Warriors, known as Ochendo Babes, were looking to revive a fading campaign against the newly promoted NNL side.
But when they game started in Ikenne, it was the young boys who totally dominated the encounter from start to finish and looked like the top flight team.
The Sky Blues controlled proceedings and scored in either half to claim a decisive first win that sees them qualify for the semifinals.
The Stars for the Remo boys
While 14-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Aiyenuba kept a second successive clean sheet in three matches, the youngster was overshadowed by two of his teammates.
Captain, leader and legend, Onyebuchi Obasi was named man of the match after another brilliant showing.
The skipper netted the important second goal in the second half, latching on to a superb through ball to display his lethal finishing skill.
It was the second goal in three matches for the multifunctional forward, who opened his account in the Valuejet Cup with a stunning goal against Ibadan Warriors, Shooting Stars.
Kparobo Ariehri
Another standout performer on the day was the scorer of the opening goal, Kparobo.
If you follow Beyond Limits, you’d know this is another player who is highly rated within the club.
Ariehri broke the deadlock after latching on to a superb cross from Michael Olude.
The finish was as outstanding as the cross from Olude and proved to be the foundation for their imprssive display and victory against the Abia Babes.
