Shericka Jackson Fires World Championship Warning as She Overcomes Slow Start to Reign Supreme in Poland
World 200m champion Shericka Jackson showed that she is still the woman to beat for the title when she overcame a slow start to claim a tight win at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday.
Jackson, running her first 200m race since the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston in June, had to do it the hard way as she came from behind to floor American Brittany Brown, who was on course to claiming the win.
The Jamaican clocked a season’s best 22.17 seconds to win the race, edging out Brown, who clocked 22.21 seconds for second place, while Nigeria’s Favour Ofili stopped the clock at 22.25 seconds for third place.

Jackson’s Time Has Been Improving
Jackson’s strong finishing kick in the final 40m of the race gave her an edge with her long strides proving too much for both Brown and Ofili.
It was just the third 200m race of the season for Jackson, who had finished second at the season-opening Xiamen Diamond League in China in April and won in Kingston.
She will be encouraged by her improved time as she had clocked 22.97 in Xiamen and 22.53 in Kingston as she builds towards next month’s World Championships in Tokyo.
