Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, after their sensational victory in the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament.
D’Tigress cemented their status as the queens of African basketball with a commanding 78–64 win over Mali in Sunday’s final, held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. With the win, Nigeria became the first team in history to win the AfroBasket title five times consecutively, a feat unmatched across the continent.
The win over Mali marked D’Tigress’ seventh continental crown. It extended their incredible unbeaten run in the AfroBasket competition to 29 consecutive wins, a streak that dates back to the third-place match at the 2015 edition in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Tournament MVP Amy Okonkwo delivered a clutch performance, scoring 19 points while shooting an efficient 7-of-11 from the field, including four three-pointers.
