Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare and Wolves in danger of setting unwanted Premier League record
Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare and Wolverhampton Wanderers face the risk of an unwanted Premier League record after a challenging start to the 2025-26 season.
Wolves have lost each of their first four league matches for the first time in their Premier League history.
According to the Premier League, only five teams have ever lost their opening five games in a season, and while three of those teams avoided relegation, two finished rock bottom.
They host newly promoted Leeds United this Saturday at home, which presents an ideal opportunity to reverse Wolves’ poor run and finally get their campaign on track.
Leeds come into the game also struggling to find their feet after promotion, having failed to score in their last three Premier League matches, a struggle reflected in their poor attacking stats.
They have taken the fewest shots on target (eight) and have the second-worst conversion rate at just 2.27%, trailing only goalless Aston Villa.

Wolves’ offensive issues have also been pronounced, with only two goals scored so far this season despite paying top money for Nigerian striker Toluwase Arokodare.
They will again be without injured forward Jorgen Strand Larsen, who missed last week’s game against Newcastle United.
Nigerian forward Arokodare made his long-awaited debut in that match but was unable to change the team’s fortunes as fellow new striker in the league, Nick Woltemade, stole the show for the Magpies.
New signing Arokodare could play as the sole striker against Leeds, and a goal on his home debut could prove to be the decisive catalyst for the player and his club, Wolves’ season.
Both the Super Eagles forward and Wolves will be desperate to avoid making Premier League history for all the wrong reasons as they seek their first points of the campaign.
