Retired Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has given his opinion on the upcoming Ballon d'Or award.

Lionel Messi and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland are vying for the 2023 Ballon d'Or set to be held in Paris on Monday, October 30.

Messi captained Argentina to the World Cup triumph in Qatar, while the Man City man helped Pep Guardiola's men win their first-ever treble.

Ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid playmaker Eden Hazard has spoken out on the deserved winner of the award.

Speaking to Telefoot, the former Belgium captain said:

“The Ballon d’Or? It would be illogical not to give it to Messi, the best player in the sport's history, a year where he wins the World Cup, he said.

"Ça ne serait pas logique de ne pas donner le Ballon d'Or au meilleur joueur de l'histoire, une année où il gagne la Coupe du monde"
