‘The team is in a good position’ -Rwanda assistant coach confident ahead of Super Eagles clash

The Amavubi are brimming with confidence heading into the game, having defeated the Super Eagles in Uyo last time out.

The Super Eagles are also struggling with their form in the World Cup qualifier series, having just three points in their first four games.

They have drawn three and lost one and are currently sitting in fifth place in Group C, four points behind Rwanda.

Nshimiyimana, the assistant, commended former coach Torsten Spittler, who led Amavubi to the top of Group C before his departure in December 2024.

According to the New Times, he said, “Spittler started well, and the team is in a good position. I hope we can build on what he did by maintaining the team at the top of the World Cup qualifiers.”

Rwanda's new national team manager, Amrouche, was appointed in early March just days before this match. 

He faces the challenge of maintaining Rwanda's momentum in the qualifiers, having officially taken charge earlier this month.

If the Amavubi defeat Nigeria, they will have 10 points before their next home game against Lesotho on March 25.
