'They are worried' — Barcelona star says Real Madrid are scared of their success
Barcelona midfielder Gavi recently spoke about their rivalry with Real Madrid, stating that Los Blancos are worried about the multiple defeats to their eternal rivals last season.
Gavi, 20, is Blaugrana through and through, embodying the passion of the rivalry in those four El Clásicos won last season. He took the opportunity of a recent media appearance to gloat, reminding those listening that Real Madrid won nothing while Barcelona were excellent.
What Gavi said
Real Madrid did not win ‘nothing’. They won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. However, they missed out on major trophies, losing LALIGA, the Supercopa De España, and Copa del Rey to the Catalans.
Barcelona beat Real Madrid to win all three titles, and Gavi believes that to be a source of concern for Real Madrid faithfuls.
“Of course they were worried. It was four wins out of four games, and that’s never happened before,” he said, per Diario AS.
“It’s understandable they are worried. In the end, we were spectacular last season, and they didn’t win anything.”
The former Real Betis Academy star acknowledged that Los Merengues strengthened their team adequately this summer but believes that Barcelona only have to maintain what they have already shown to be triumphant.
“This year they’ve reinforced themselves with some very good players, to be honest, but we’ll see what they’ll do this season. They have a great team, but we have to be ourselves, and that’s it.”
