The former Aston Villa man has emerged as a target for both Premier League clubs, who are looking to strengthen their midfield options.

Manchester City are enduring a difficult season and are expected to be busy in the transfer window, and midfield is a position the Cityzens are said to be looking to strengthen, especially after Rodri's extended absence with a severe knee injury.

They have already signed defender Abdukodir Khusanov and have secured a deal for forward Omar Marmoush. 

However, their pursuit of Douglas Luiz could be complicated by Chelsea's interest.   

Juventus are reportedly reluctant to let Douglas Luiz leave on loan, which could be a stumbling block for both Chelsea and Manchester City, who are believed to be exploring temporary deals for the midfielder.
