Transfer tug of war - Arsenal set to battle Liverpool for signing of Bayern star Kimmich
Several Premier League teams have declared interest in signing the German World Cup winner Kimmich, who is now free to negotiate with clubs outside of Germany.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich ended contract negotiations with star player Kimmich, whose deal expires this summer.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield as Jorginho and Thomas Partey, who are 33 and 31 years old, respectively, will both be out of contract this summer.
Kimmich wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool
According to the Sun, Arsenal and Liverpool are currently fighting it out to convince Kimmich to join their respective clubs next season.
Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, admires Kimmich, who has the versatility to play as an inverted full-back.
Funds could be raised by selling fringe players such as Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Arsenal also has their eyes set on Martin Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder, with a £51 million transfer deal already in place.
Liverpool are also looking to bolster their midfield, an area they neglected to address last summer.
Kimmich could potentially replace England full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been rumoured to be considering a free transfer to Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich, who are currently eight points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga table, will face Stuttgart on Friday evening. Joshua Kimmich will miss the match due to a hamstring injury.
