WATCH: Ballon d’Or nominee Ademola Lookman’s moment of magic to assist Retegui
Ademola Lookman assisted and scored in his first appearance of the Serie A season after wanting out of Atalanta in the summer, setting up Mateo Retegui before scoring himself in a goal-laden first half at the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman’s assist against Fiorentina
The forward, linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, had not appeared for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men in the 2024-25 season.
However, the Ballon d'Or nominee was reinstated for Sunday’s visit of Fiorentina, and he repaid his manager’s decision by scoring and assisting in a first half that produced five goals.
With La Dea trailing 1-0 to Lucas Martinez Quarta’s 15th-minute strike, Lookman’s brilliance produced the home side’s first equaliser.
After receiving possession from Charles De Ketelaere on the left touchline just inside the away side's half, the Nigerian took a deft touch to deceive Fiorentina’s Edoardo Bove, carried the ball into the final third and picked out Retegui with a well-weighted cross for Atalanta’s leveller.

Although Moise Kean restored La Viola's lead, the Gasperini's men scored twice before the interlude through De Ketelaere and Lookman to head into half-time with a 3-2 lead, and it stayed that way for the rest of the game.
Atalanta went into gameweek four on a two-match losing run — falling to defeats against Torino (2-1) and Inter (4-0) before the international break.
La Dea's success over Fiorentina sees them notch their second victory this term.
