WWE SmackDown Recap: John Cena knocked out cold as AJ Styles left hospitalized by The Bloodline

There is still a lot of bad blood between John Cena and The Bloodline as WWE continues to build up to Fastlane.

However, Cena could be forced to go face The Bloodline on his own after his planned tag teammate AJ Styles was left hospitalized on WWE SmackDown.

Cena and AJ Styles are currently slated to take on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa in the tag team main event at Fastlane.

However, that could take a new twist as The Bloodline seemingly has other plans.

With just over two weeks away from Fastlane, the build up continued this Friday on WWE SmackDown.

Here’s all that happened this week.

Following his return to the Blue Band last week, Cena kicked off the show by announcing his desire to compete in a match on Friday, his first match on SmackDown since December 2022.

Cena then spoke on his recent issues with The Bloodline and called up AJ Styles to join him in the ring.

After Styles came in, The Bloodline’s music hit with Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa walking out together.

Cena and Styles then  urged authority figure Adam Pearce to make the match, but Pearce said he would convene with The Bloodline's special counsel Paul Heyman about setting the match up.

Pearce approached The Bloodline's locker room to finalize match details with contracts in hand. 

Paul Heyman agreed under the condition the tag team match was scheduled for a later date.

 Pearce then revealed Cena and Styles vs. Sikoa and Uso would take place at Fastlane on October 7. 

Heyman later informed Uso that those decisions require approval from the ‘Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns.

Sikoa then told Heyman not to worry and that no one would be left standing to fight them at Fastlane, after which, Styles was stretchered away in a neckbrace with his O.C. stablemates in tow. 

Back in the ring, Heyman pointed out that Cena had signed the Fastlane contract but there was no signature from Styles.

And after Uso mocked Cena, telling him it would be wise to hop into the ambulance with Styles, the 16-time world champion hit the ring. 

Despite a strong start, the numbers soon overwhelmed Cena who was eventually put down by Solo Sikoa’s Samoan Spike, before Uso splattered him with an Uso Splash. 

Uso and Sikoa signed the contract for a match against Cena at Fastlane.
