Zimbabwe 0-1 Rwanda: Amavubi overtake Super Eagles in World Cup group
The Amavubi of Rwanda recorded a 0-1 away victory against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in a World Cup group game played on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The game was played at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa a neutral venue as Zimbabwe cannot host games at home.

The Amavubi came into the game without a win in their last two games, a 1-1 draw with Lesotho and a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria.
The game began with both teams aiming to bounce back from a poor run of results.
Rwanda were dominant and the only goal of the game was scored by Gilbert Mugisha in the 40th minute.
The 29-year-old left winger from APR FC Kigali, capitalized on a defensive error by Zimbabwe to give Rwanda a 1-0 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Zimbabwe mount a fierce comeback but were unable to get an equalizer.
Despite last chances for both teams, the Amavubi were able to hold on to their advantage to pick up all three points.
The result means that the Amavubi move ahead of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the World Cup qualification group.
The Bafana Bafana of South Africa are top with 16 points, Benin Republic and Rwanda and tied with 11 points while Nigeria is on 10.
