Another Kenyan, Enos Kales, will be debuting at the event and he will also give the Ethiopian a run for his money.

George Nyamori Onyancha and Janet Jelagat Rono will lead star-studded fields to Sunday’s Maybank Marathon in Bali, Indonesia.

Onyancha will lead the men’s field and he will be lining up for the race with a Personal Best time of 2:09:24. The Kenyan goes into the race with utmost confidence since he is unbeaten so far this season.

He opened his season at the Kigali International Peace Marathon where he reigned supreme. Onyancha crossed the finish line in 2:17.41 and he will be looking forward to a repeat of the same when he takes on the tough opponents as he makes his first appearance in the streets of Bali.

His toughest opposition will come from Ethiopia’s Abdu Assfaw Assen, the second fastest in the field. Assen has a PB time of 2:09.46. Assen started his professional career this year and so far, things are looking up for him.

He has so far competed in two marathons, the Dubai Marathon and the Zurich Rock 'n' Roll Running Series Madrid Marathon where he finished ninth and seventh respectively.

Another Kenyan, Enos Kales, will be debuting at the event and he will also give the Ethiopian a run for his money. So far, only the entries have been shared for the men’s race.

Meanwhile in the women’s race, Rono, the fastest in the field with a PB time of 2:26:03, will face opposition from Ethiopia’s Tejinesh Gebisa. However, Rono goes into the race with confidence after finishing third at the Zürich Marathon earlier this year.

On her part, the Ethiopian is also primed for victory after her impressive second-place finish at the International Marathon de Marrakech.

The two will be joined by another Kenyan, Martha Akeno, the third fastest in the field with a PB time of 2:29:00.
