The former Olympics champion has opened up on some of the challenges he has had to cope with since switching his training base from Rome to Florida.
Former Olympics 100m champion Marcell Jacobs has struggled with injuries and poor form since winning gold at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games.
The Italian has not been himself since storming to a surprise gold medal in Tokyo and there were fears that he could fail to even make it to Paris last year.
However, Jacobs did just enough to qualify but at the Olympics, he could only finish fifth in the 100m final after clocking 9.85.
Before the Olympics, Jacobs had made the decision to split from his long-time coach Paolo Camossi and moved from Rome to set base in the United States, where he started working with coach Rana Reider in Jacksonville, Florida.

Noah Lyles: How his 60m time compares to Marcell Jacobs & Co ahead of New Balance Grand Prix?
Noah Lyles is poised for 60m showdown at the New Balance Grand Prix after season opener.
The sprinter admits adjusting to life in America was tough and besides the new environment, he also struggled to stop his overindulgence in junk food, something that still gives him challenges to date.
“The last year in the US for me was really difficult because I like burgers, fries and everything so it was really difficult to try and stay focused and eat just in my house,” Jacobs said ahead of the New Balance Grand Prix in New York on Sunday.
“But yeah, I know what I have to do, what I have to eat, what I don’t have to eat so I try to balance my meal every time, breakfast, snacks so I try to be good but sometimes I eat a lot of burgers and fries.”
Jacobs’ admission gives fans a peek into his lifestyle and dietary choices that might have been behind his injuries and poor form post-Tokyo Olympics.
Diet plays a key role in an athlete’s career and heavily indulging in fast food is one of the reasons cited for weight and injury problems.
Jacobs is hoping to put his poor 2024 season behind by starting 2025 with a bang at the New Balance Grand Prix but has a tough task as Olympics champion Noah Lyles is among the rivals he is up against.
