Ocholla, who was officiating at a ceremony that recognized the force’s best-performing athletes in 2022, promised a raft of measures that will improve performance.

“I take special recognition of ASP Cheptegei and Peruth who won gold and bronze medals in 2022. We know that you trained, suffered and sacrificed but will live the rest of your life as champions,” Ocholla said in his brief speech at the Police headquarters in Naguru where 34 athletes were appreciated.

“Our priority areas in developing the sports in Police Force are in the following areas; Facility development – that is land for the home of the department; improved welfare of the sportsmen and women; and non-human resource development – vehicles and so on,” the IGP listed.

Ocholla also promised to prioritise the recruitment of talented sportsmen into the force during their mass recruitments.
