Before Game One last Friday, KIU management needed to calm a storm in the camp after a reported strike from the players due to arrears.

KIU Titans are currently fighting to level up and make their National Basketball League Finals series with City Oilers a contest.

The Kansanga based outfit find themselves in a two-game hole after the opening fixtures and must find some rhythm sooner rather than later to stay alive.

But the problems on court will be attributed to matters off it.

Before Game One last Friday, KIU management needed to calm a storm in the camp after a reported strike from the players due to arrears.

It is reported that one of the players, later revealed to be forward Henry Okoth, held onto the team jerseys in protest.

The same player has since taken to social media to talk about player exploitation and frustration in Ugandan basketball.

“I think it’s time to stop exploitation of young talents signing heavy contracts with them but after joining your teams they become beggars, frustrated their talents get demolished and they claim to have goals of developing from grassroots. No this should stop” Okoth posted and tagged FUBA on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

Okoth has not featured for KIU in any of the two games played thus far in the finals.

The side improved and took the game to City Oilers in Game Two but fell short down the stretch to find themselves in a tricky situation.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Okoth but it is unlikely he will be at KIU beyond this season, which could end this very week.
