KIU Titans President Nasser Sserunjogi has made it clear to his players that winning the National Basketball League Championship is the team’s target in 2023.

This, he empathized during the team’s first general meeting held on Wednesday, February 1.

Players from last season and the new acquisitions were all in the meeting alongside head coach Julius Lutwama and his assistant Raymond Muhumuza.

"We are going for that championship and it starts now,” Sserunjogi told the players.

“All of you know how much we have invested in this, there is no debate about it, we are going for the championship," he added. The Titans lost 3-1 to Namuwongo Blazers in the semifinals last year.

They have since raided their Makindye Division neighbours and made off with Saidi Amisi, Peter Obleng and Collins Kasujja.

Add these to players like Edgar Munaba, Fidel Okoth, Joseph Chuma and Henry Okoth and you have a strong team to start the season.

Sserunjogi, who also doubles as the Fuba President urged players to forge great chemistry before the season tips off in March.

"You guys have to be a unit, you have to be a team. It is teams that win championships not individuals." The Titans officially kicked off preparations for the new season on Wednesday.
