Dick Katende was the longest serving national boxing coach at the time of his demise in August 2016.

Olympian Shadir Musa Bwogi is back to work less than a month after flooring Ivan Magumba in just two minutes during his last fight to lift the national Super Middleweight title.

Bwogi is preparing for his next fight on 28th April, which will be a celebration of his coaches, Musa Kibirige Kent and Dick Katende, who passed on.

"My next fight will be dubbed KK in memory of my late coaches Musa Kibirige Kent and Dick Katende because those are some of the people who made me who I am today," Bwogi told Pulse Sports.

"Especially while I was younger, they laid a foundation for us, and we can only honour them by fighting in their memory," he added.

Because most of the fighters trained by the late two boxing coaches are now pro boxers, the memorial event will feature a number of them.

"I was the youngest from the lot trained by the late two coaches, but we have others like Miiro Juma and Fazil Juma who were all trained by the coaches," he noted.

Dick Katende was the longest serving national boxing coach at the time of his demise in August 2016.

He served for over a decade and led the national team to the Glasgow Commonwealth games.

In 2011, Musa Kibirige Kent also passed on following an illness. At the time, he was the national boxing team (The Bombers) coach.

More details about the fight and Bwogi's opponent will be announced in due course.
