Former Uganda Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi has revealed that several boxers have declined the opportunity to face him in the ring.

Shadir currently holds the national super middleweight championship title, winning in January 2023 with a first-round knockout victory over Uganda Police boxer Ivan Magumba.

Speaking to Pulse Sports Uganda ahead of the upcoming fight night event, named 'The Comeback' and set to take place on June 10th at the New Obligato, Shadir revealed that organizers need help convincing boxers to step up and face him.

The event promises 14 thrilling bouts, with Shadir initially scheduled to fight Eric Mukama, and Henry Kassujja, also known as "Stopper," set to face Tanzania's Salehe Mkalekwa in the main event.

In another co-main fight, Isaac Masembe is slated to take on Tanzania's Fred Sayuni.

However, Shadir revealed that organizers are actively searching for a new opponent to challenge him in the ring.

"Eric Mukama has declined the fight," he revealed before adding. "I will now be facing another opponent from Masaka Boxing Club. Unfortunately, many fighters are hesitant to step into the ring with me.

Undeterred by the setbacks, Shadir said he has reached out to fighters outside the country and remains hopeful of securing at least three fights before the year concludes.

"I have relaxed a lot. I will fight with a boxer from outside Uganda and at least three fights before the year ends," he said. Shadir is also a former Olympian.
