For Obua as head coach with Tax Collectors, it was his first win since taking charge, but it came at the expense of a team he featured for in his teenage years over two spells between 2001-2002 and 2003-2005.

URA FC head coach David Obua was locked between joy and sadness as his team beat boyhood club Express FC 2-1 in the Uganda Premier League on Friday.

For Obua as head coach with Tax Collectors, it was his first win since taking charge, but it came at the expense of a team he featured for in his teenage years over two spells between 2001-2002 and 2003-2005.

"It's kind of sad for me because I wanted them (Express) to play better and score, but they did not play better, and we won," Obua told the press at the Mehta Stadium.

"I am a bit sad; I saw Hassan Mubiru (ex-Express player), one of the best players to ever play in this country; I saw Godfrey Nyola (former Express coach)."

"They are all great guys. Express fans are great, and I wish them well; I'm an Express, but I'm also happy for the win," Obua added.

The tactician was also full of praise for his team for their performance, more than the result.

"I want to build players with character, and they showed today that they have character."

"All the games where we didn't win, I doubt you've seen the boys back down. I can't dictate the result of the game, but I can dictate how we play."

The result meant URA moved sixth on the 16-team log with 13 points in nine matches and will visit NEC FC on December 6 in their subsequent fixture.

Meanwhile, Express descended to eighth on the table with 12 points in eight matches and will host BUL FC in their next game on December 5.
