The K’Ogalo custodian has provided a clue on where he will play next following his latest social media post.

Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews has hinted at leaving the club after a stellar season with the 20-time Kenyan champions.

Mathews shared the Golden Glove award with Nzoia Sugar’s Humphrey Katasi after keeping 17 clean sheets as K’Ogalo claimed the 2022-23 FKF Premier League title after edging Tusker FC by just one point, but he looks to be on his way out of the club.

In a social media post on Sunday, the player appeared to be saying his farewell to the club that has been his home for the last three years.

“Great team, worthy fight, a group to remember and a team to remember,” Mathews posted on Facebook.

When contacted, Mathews remained cagey over his future, opting not to reveal much.

“It’s just a post. Nothing much in it,” Mathews told Pulse Sports via phone before hanging up.

The goalkeeper has been one of Gor Mahia’s dependable players since joining K’Ogalo at the start of the 2020-21 season from Kisumu All-Stars.

He dislodged Boniface Oluoch as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper after springing to prominence by saving penalties in the 2021 FKF Cup semi-final and final against Bidco United and AFC Leopards respectively.

Mathews has, however, had issues with the club previously when he threatened to quit over delayed payment of his dues in 2021. At the time, the player admitted to having received a number of offers in and out of the country which he was mulling over.

“I've already received calls from top tier clubs who expressed genuine interest in securing my signature. Other offers have come from as far as Sweden, but to be honest I don't want to make a rash decision which I might regret later,” he told the Star at the time.

If he indeed leaves the club, Mathews will join the growing list of departures at Gor with Dennis Ng'ang'a joining Zambian outfit Zanaco on Saturday while midfielder Peter Oudu and John Ochieng are among the others to have exited.
