Gor Mahia have announced that they will be selling tickets digitally for Saturday’s clash against Murang’a Seal as the club seeks to move away from the much-maligned cash sales.

Gor Mahia have followed in the footsteps of their rivals AFC Leopards by implementing the E-Ticketing platform for the sale of their match tickets.

K’Ogalo, who have been selling tickets at the gate and at selected outlets in Nairobi, will now try the digital platform for Saturday’s FKF Premier League match against Murang’a Seal, set to played at Kasarani Stadium.

“We will be playing Murang’a Seal on Saturday in the SportPesa derby and the match tickets will be sold online. We will be selling match tickets at tikiti.co.ke and tickets will go online today [Tuesday],” said Rachier.

“There will be no hard cash at the gate so do not come thinking you will come to pay there. The tickets will sell for Ksh500 for VIP and the rest will be Ksh200,” he added.

Gor Mahia have been slammed by a section of their fans for not embracing technology, leading to loss of revenue, at the gate given cash sales are prone to manipulation.

The club seems to have heeded the advise with the implementation of E-Ticketing. However, this seems like a pilot project since Rachier did not confirm whether this will be the mode of operation going forward.

“It is our intention that we continue with the digital. We will look at it and hope that it can be our modus operandi,” said Rachier, when asked if the club has not stopped cash sales.

Leopards were the first to implement E-Ticketing this season, a move the club said has increased their gate collection.

However, there have been complaints of the system being ‘slow’ which saw some impatient fans force their way into the stadium during their clash against Shabana at Ulinzi Complex last month after ticket verification took too long, something K’Ogalo will have to address to avoid facing similar challenges.
