Jose Mourinho snubs Germany, Italy, picks three potential Euro 2024 champions

Legendary Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has left out hosts Germany and holders Italy in his prediction of favourites for this summer's Euro 2024 tournament

Former Roma manager Jose Mourinho has weighed in on who he believes could emerge victorious as the anticipation builds for Euro 2024, with football fans eagerly awaiting the spectacle that awaits in Germany.

Mourinho tips native Portugal and France for success

Unsurprisingly, Mourinho has identified Portugal as one of the leading prospects for Euro 2024 victory. The Portuguese national squad has a deep pool of talent, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva, and Bruno Fernandes. Despite competition from other nations, Mourinho stated, “Surprises can happen, yes. But looking at the quality and quantity of players, I think Portugal has to go there to win,” reiterating his belief that Portugal has what it takes to lift the trophy once again.

Mourinho is also keeping an eye on World Cup finalists France. Les Bleus, with a star-studded team and a track record of success, are a significant threat to their opponents. France, led by top-tier players such as Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, will definitely look to add another major prize to their already impressive collection.

Mourinho tips tournament favourites England for glory

Mourinho has also tipped England as a strong contender for Euro 2024 success. Gareth Southgate's side, buoyed by the likes of Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, are poised to mount a serious challenge for the title.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea gaffer did not shy away from acknowledging the Three Lions quality, naming them among his three strongest teams, saying, 'For me, it's one of the three strongest teams [to win the Euros], Portugal, France and England.”

With a blend of experience and youthful energy, the Three Lions will be eager to end their trophy drought by winning their first senior trophy since the 1966 World Cup. England have been made favourites for the 2024 European Championship by bookmakers, ranking above France and hosts Germany.
