Nigeria Super Eagles Mikel Obi returns to put smiles on the faces of young Nigerians with his Back2Base foundation.

Legendary Chelsea midfielder and former Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, has concluded plans to make it rain with cash during the upcoming Back2Base Novelty game. 

Mikel Obi made the revelation after he posted a video to promote the event on his social media page on Sunday afternoon.

The Super Eagles legend, known for his extraordinary football skills during his active years and philanthropic efforts, is set to reward young Nigerians and help them actualise their dreams. 

Obi has chosen this path through his foundation, Back2Base, as a means to help young and talented Nigerians chase their dreams.

Back2Base is gearing up for Season 2 next year, with the former Chelsea start hosting a Novelty match to create awareness for the next edition expected to be bigger and better than the first edition.

Obi shared the promotional video with a short caption that explains the idea behind the match.

According to the legend, giving back is something that will always be with him. 

“Giving back is and will always be one of the things i find fulfillment in doing,” he posted on Instagram.

“I can’t wait to see you all on the 20th,” he added.

Per the video, the Novelty match will be a preparation for season 2, with three players set to cash rewards valued up to two million naira.

The best player is expected to take home N1 million, with the second and third-place players getting N700,000 and N300, 000 respectively.

The Back2Base novelty match will take place at the Meadow Hall in Lekki on October 20.
