Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that while Arsenal appreciate Napoli's Victor Osimhen, they are currently prioritizing a move for Coventry City's Viktor Gyokeres as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer.

The future of Nigeria's Victor Osimhen has been a subject of intense speculation, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly leading the race for his signature.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports, however, it appears that the Super Eagles striker's potential move to the Emirates may not be as straightforward as initially thought.

Arsenal to ditch Osimhen

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are currently prioritising a move for Portugal-based Viktor Gyokeres over Osimhen.

In a recent social media post, Romano stated: "Arsenal appreciate Osimhen but are looking at Gyokeres as a priority."

Victor Osimhen has now scored 15 goals across all competitions for Napoli.

Osimhen played a decisive role in Napoli's first Italian league title in 33 years, leading the way with 26 goals to emerge as the top scorer in Serie A.

His impressive performances have understandably attracted the attention of several top European clubs, but it seems Arsenal's focus may lie elsewhere.

The Gunners have been actively searching for attacking reinforcements this summer, with their current forward options, including the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, yet to make the position theirs.

The potential acquisition of Gyokeres, who has been in impressive form for giants Sporting Lisbon, could be seen as a more cost-effective and pragmatic solution for Mikel Arteta's side.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal fans will be keen to see how the club's pursuit of attacking talent unfolds.

While Osimhen's name has been heavily linked with a move to North London, the latest update from Romano suggests that the Gunners may have identified Gyokeres as their priority target in the forward position which could open the way for a move to neighbours Chelsea for the African Footballer of the Year.
