Young Ugandan star shares aspirations and admiration for coach Robert Matano.

Ugandan international John Byamukama is gearing up to make a lasting impact as he joins the ranks of the 12-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions, Tusker.

The 28-year-old midfielder recently signed with the prestigious club and has already impressed with his skills and determination on the field.

As the Brewers prepare to engage in friendly matches in Tanzania, Byamukama's addition to the team promises to be a game-changer.

Hailing from Jinja in Eastern Uganda, Byamukama has already built a reputation as a formidable player in his homeland.

Spotted by a Kenyan agent, he caught the attention of Tusker, a club well-known across borders for its football prowess.

In an interview, Byamukama shared his enthusiasm for representing a team of Tusker's stature adding that he is eager to showcase his skills in his preferred position on the left wing.

"Tusker is a very big team, and everyone in my native Uganda knows about the team," he said.

Byamukama's introduction to the Tusker family was made easier with the presence of familiar faces.

Having crossed paths with Tusker players Brian Bwire and Micheal Kibwage before, he felt welcomed and at ease.

Additionally, he had the privilege of interacting with his fellow countryman, Deogratious Ojok, who had nothing but praise for the club.

These connections played a significant role in encouraging Byamukama to make the move to the Ruaraka-based side.

The talented winger's aspirations are clear – to lift the Football Kenya Federation Premier League trophy with Tusker.

"It will be a dream come true, and I know it is not easy to come," Byamukama admitted.

Such a remarkable achievement would undoubtedly solidify his place among the footballing elite in the region.

One key factor that has Byamukama confident in achieving his goals is Coach Robert Matano.

"Coach Robert Matano is a very good coach, and he is very experienced. I know he will push me hard to achieve my dreams," the young talent remarked.

Under the guidance of Matano, Byamukama is determined to hone his skills and make an indelible mark on the field.

Byamukama's journey to Tusker is one of ambition and perseverance. His footballing prowess was evident during his time with Gaddafi FC, and he continued to impress during stints with Tooro United in the Uganda Premier League and Bumate United in the Big League.

However, it was in 2021 that he truly caught the eye of many when he played a pivotal role in Express FC's successful campaign, securing both the prestigious Uganda Premier League and the CECAFA Club Championship.

With such a remarkable track record and an insatiable hunger for success, Byamukama's addition to Tusker's squad has undoubtedly boosted the team's ambitions.

As they gear up for a series of friendly matches in Tanzania, the Brewers aim to fine-tune their skills and strengthen their team cohesion.

Among the new players joining the squad are Fabien Adikiny, a skilled midfielder from Murang'a Seal, and the dynamic duo from Nzoia Sugar, James Kibande and Joseph Mwangi, who will add depth to the team. Goalkeeper Edwin Simiyu will also bolster the squad's defensive prowess.

The team's sojourn in Arusha, Tanzania, promises to be an exciting one, with three buildup matches lined up.

On Thursday and Saturday, Tusker will go head-to-head with local side Mbuni FC, offering them a chance to test their mettle.

On Friday, the team will face a strong challenge from Burundian outfit Vital'O, providing them with a chance to gauge their readiness for the upcoming season.
