Bayer Leverkusen remains unbeaten after a scare from Stuttgart thanks to Victor Boniface and Florian Wirtz.

In a keenly contested Bundesliga clash, Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen played out a thrilling 1-1 draw, with Nigeria’s Victor Boniface a key protagonist.

Boniface showcased his playmaking skill this time after he notched up his sixth assist of the season to help Leverkusen avoid defeat.

Boniface’s playmaking masterclass

The 22-year-old has been a standout performer for Leverkusen this season across competition and this was no exception at Stuttgart.

Boniface showed why he is the club’s contributor-in-chief this season by delivering a decisive and perfectly timed assist for teammate Florian Wirtz.

With the Bundesliga leaders trailing 1-0 following a first-half strike from Chris Fuhrich, Boniface’s vision and precise passing came to the fore when he set up wonderkid Wirtz for the equaliser two minutes into the second half.

It was one of two chances created by the former USG star, who has now assisted six goals in addition to eight goals in 14 matches.

A Hard-Fought battle for both teams

After Bayern Munich’s shock defeat on Saturday, neither side took advantage in the end.

In a closely fought clash which saw the home side have a slight upper hand, both teams displayed the intensity and determination that have seen them sit in the Bundesliga top three.

Stuttgart’s first half lead was nullified by Leverkusen, who do not know how to lose this season, with Nigeria’s Boniface proving a pivotal player as both sides shared the spoils.

Leverkusen remain unbeaten in the league and go four points clear at the top while Stuttgart are one point further behind in third, with Bayern second.
