Fand of the Red Devils could not believe a recent milestone stat after celebrating many stoppage time winners in the past

Manchester United fans have questioned the validity of a milestone stat that emerged after their dramatic come-from-behind victory over Brentford in the Premier League.

Manchester United make stunning comeback against Brentford

The Red Devils trailed at home against Brentford after conceding the match’s opening goal to Matias Jensen’s shot in the 24th minute.

Manchester United eventually pulled the chestnut out of the fire to rescue the three points thanks to a brace in stoppage time from midfielder Scott McTominay.

The 2-1 win saw the Red Devils create history after two goals in extra time, which served as a new Manchester United record as they had never been behind beyond the regulation 90 minutes of a match that they eventually won.

Fans question Manchester United stat

Football data specialists Opta published this new record for Manchester United in the Premier League, but their findings led fans to ask how that was possible if the team was revered for rescuing games late on with the infamous ‘Fergie time’ heroics under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United were known for scoring important late winners during Ferguson’s reign, earning themselves the tag of comeback kings, and fans questioned how they got the tag if they had never been behind that late before winning a match.

Despite the scepticism of fans, the milestone stat is correct, as Manchester United had never been that close to defeat before snatching a win, even during the “Fergie time” era.
