Xavi revealed when he decided to leave Barcelona, and left the door open for a possible return in the future.

Barcelona's head coach, Xavi Hernandez, has announced his resignation following the team's 5-3 defeat against Villarreal.

This decision, however, was not a sudden whim but rather a culmination of frustrations brewing since the start of the season. Xavi disclosed, "The decision about my resignation has been made for a long time; our work is not valued enough."

Potential Return to Barca and Unfulfilled Recognition

Despite bidding adieu for now, Xavi hasn't closed the door on a potential return to the Catalan club in the future. "I don’t rule out a return to Barca. I’m a club man," he asserted.

However, he expressed his belief that the current moment demands a different approach, stating, "I don’t think they don’t need me now. We need another person, another type of coach."

Xavi's tenure at Barcelona has been marked by mixed fortunes. While he led the team to a La Liga title in his first full season, the current campaign has seen the club struggle domestically, landing them in fourth place in the league standings.

Despite their Champions League group stage advancement, disappointments in other competitions have compounded the pressure.

Frustrations and Unfulfilled Recognition

Xavi lamented the lack of recognition for the team's efforts, emphasising, "I don’t think they (our achievements) have been valued enough."

He highlighted the toll this perception took on him, remarking, "That generates a wear and tear that you think; you do what you do; it’s not valued."

Throughout his statement, Xavi underscored the challenges of managing a club of Barcelona's stature, expressing empathy with fellow coaches. "We have a problem with the demands of this position," he noted, adding, "It seems like your life is on the line at every moment. That’s why I say it’s cruel; you don’t enjoy it.”
