Miguel’s last competitive race was at the Jamhuri Park in Kenya, where he won after winning all three heats to take victory at the Kenya National Motocross Championship season opener in February.

Motocross hotshot Miguel Katende is set to make his return to competitive action this weekend at the FIM Africa Central African Motocross Challenge.

The event is set to take place on Easter Sunday, April 9th, at the Uganda Motorsports Arena in Busiika and will attract riders from Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

This will be the first round of the regional championship that is contested every year, and Uganda is the defending champion.

It will also count as round three of the Uganda Motocross championship.

Miguel, named 2022 USPA Motorcross Sports Personality, after leading Uganda to victory in the championship, has been out of action for several weeks due to an injury.

Despite missing round two of the Uganda National Motocross Championship at E-Villas in Kalisizo, where his brother Johnathan Katende dominated to take the victory, the 10-year-old has been stepping up his training ahead of the event.

The Lato Milk-sponsored driver has promised to put on a show for his fans and for the country, despite concerns that his time out of action may have affected his pace for the race.

Miguel’s last competitive race was at the Jamhuri Park in Kenya, where he won after winning all three heats to take victory at the Kenya National Motocross Championship season opener in February.

That victory followed a dominant performance in the Uganda National Motocross Championship season opener, where he won all three heats ahead of brother Johnathan to take victory.

The Katende brothers, Miguel and Johnathan, dominated the 65CC class last year, sharing first and second places over the three heats to claim a 1-2 position finish in the event.

This year, Johnathan is leading the Mx65 National standings and is also aiming to challenge for the Central African Motocross Championship.

However, he knows that he will face stiff competition from not only his brother, but also Kenya’s Kigen Mutuma who always fancies a battle against the Katendes.

At Busiika though, Ramathan Mubiru is considered favourite with the track considered his home ground. Larry Ssekamwa, Ashraf Mbabazi, Isaac Mitima are other party spoilers.

In this weekend's race, the Katende brothers will test the RZ Innovations Ltd tires, tubes, and brake pads on the sandy surface. The quality of these products has been amazing in the previous two national rounds.

The return of Miguel is a huge boost for Team Uganda, which is also set to feature MX2 champions Ssentamu and Stav Orland, Gift Ssebuguzi (MX Lite), and Alon Orland (MX 125).

These riders recently competed in the South African Motocross Championship, gaining valuable experience and skills that they plan to put to the test this weekend.

The event will also feature a non-championship sprint, where Ronald Ssebuguzi has promised to take part alongside other rally drivers on a designed track of 4.4km, which will be done twice on the day.
