And, per Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, the recently appointed ad-hoc normalization committee for Netball decided against participating.

The embattled UNF boss pleaded not guilty to the charges before the case got adjourned, as the court verified her sureties for the bail application.
Ogwang reasoned that Malawi and South Africa's decision to withdraw fuelled Uganda's pulling out.
"The normalization committee, in consultation with world netball, agreed that the She Cranes should not participate in the African Netball Championship in Botswana," Ogwang told Parliament.

"Malawi and South Africa withdrew, and therefore Uganda's participation would have no effect in terms of ranking since Uganda is ranked number one in Africa," he reasoned.
He further defended that the National Council of Sports (NCS) had released funds for the championship before eventually withdrawing participation.

"The National Council of Sports had released funds for the said championship, and those funds are available with the normalization committee to facilitate the team in the forthcoming international-ranking tournaments."
The withdrawal came after NCS annulled the Certificate of Recognition for the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF).

The She Cranes have been invited by England, along with powerhouses Australia and New Zealand, for the Vitality Netball Nations Cup.
However, the She Cranes are set to participate in the England-organized Vitality Netball Nations Cup early next year.
