Kenya Simbas fall after a narrow defeat to Uganda Cranes in the Victoria Cup, affecting their standing in world rugby.

Kenya Simbas have experienced a slip on the global stage, descending one slot in the latest World Rugby Rankings.

This decline follows a heart-wrenching 21-20 defeat to the Uganda Cranes in the Victoria Cup on Sunday.

As reported in the latest rankings unveiled on Monday, Simba dropped from 33rd to 34th in the rankings.

The Simbas' descent on the leaderboard is marked by their new tally of 50.64 points, reflecting the competitive nature of international rugby.

Conversely, the Ugandan side has soared, ascending three places from 42nd to an impressive 39th.

The decisive match at Kings Park Arena was a spectacle of rugby prowess and strategic gameplay.

Teddy Akala's early try, although unconverted, put the Simbas at an early advantage.

The momentum continued as Jone Kubu's tactical play set Joel Inzuga up for another try, further extending their lead after just ten minutes on the clock.

However, the game's narrative took an unforeseen turn as Uganda's Ivan Magomu capitalized on Kenya's disciplinary lapses. His precise kicking, punctuated by two penalties and a conversion, edged the Cranes ahead, concluding the first half with a narrow one-point lead.

The tug-of-war continued into the second half, with both teams grappling for dominance. Simbas managed to briefly regain the lead thanks to Kubu's penalty kick, but their joy was short-lived. Cranes responded with a try that tipped the scales once again.

As the match neared its climax, Inzuga's second try for the Simbas seemed to have set the stage for a Kenyan victory. But in a dramatic turn, Liam Walker's penalty in the dying moments of the game sealed a Ugandan triumph and secured regional supremacy.

Meanwhile, modest gains were observed as Poland, Sweden, and Tunisia each climbed a single place on the rankings.

In contrast, the aftermath of this ranking update has not been kind to all, with Ukraine facing the steepest decline, plummeting nine places.

Croatia's drop by three spots and Malta and the Philippines each falling one place further underline the constant fluctuations within the rugby realm.
