Manchester United's pursuit of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is entering a critical stage.
United have already had two bids rejected by Brentford, and the Cameroonian striker is reportedly frustrated by the protracted negotiations.
Amorim gives deadline for Mbeumo's deal
United have been targeting Mbeumo since the beginning of the summer transfer window, but the saga is now extending into late July.
According to The Mirror, Amorim has urged the club to secure Mbeumo's signature before their pre-season tour of the United States begins.
Brentford have already turned down two offers for the player and are reportedly holding out for a fee in excess of £62.5 million.
While Mbeumo has expressed his desire to join Manchester United, Brentford remain firm on their valuation. Earlier this week, Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles, confirmed that no agreement is in place and that Mbeumo could still be with the club next season.
With pre-season fast approaching, the lack of progress is causing concern for everyone involved.
Mbeumo's impressive performance last season saw him score 20 Premier League goals, a tally surpassed only by Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland.
This prolific form has made him a key target for United, who are looking to bolster their attack alongside Matheus Cunha. Amorim is keen to integrate Mbeumo into the squad quickly before the Premier League Summer Series in the US.
Manchester United are expected to submit an improved third bid in the coming days to try and break the impasse. Brentford will only sell if their valuation is met, and time is running out.
If a deal isn't reached before July 22nd, Mbeumo's transfer could be postponed until later in the transfer window or even January.
