Arsenal are looking to finish the season as strongly as possible, with their title chances dwindling. They will have to go ahead without their top goal scorer, Gabriel Martinelli, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.

The 22-year-old picked up an injury in Arsenal's defeat to Brighton, and according to reports, he will be unavailable for the Gunners' last two matches of the season.

Martinelli ruled out of the season

The Brazilian winger was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge by Brighton's Moises Caicedo, which saw him get subbed off in the first half of the 3-0 defeat for Mikel Arteta's men.

Following further tests, the winger is said to have suffered ankle ligament damage and will be out of action for a number of weeks, effectively ruling him out of the trip to Nottingham Forest and the final games of the season at home to Wolverhampton.

The Athletic's David Ornstein reports this today, and Mikel Arteta will have to seek alternatives for Arsenal's remaining games; however, per the report, Martinelli should return in time for the pre-season.
