The 24-year-old England international is the Gunners' prime summer target, and although he has one year left on his Hammers contract, with an option to extend for one more year, his employers still want above £100 million for him.

Arsenal's second bid

According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, the Mikel Arteta-coached side have sent a bid worth £90 million for the defensive midfielder.

Of the offered £90 million, £75 million will be a guaranteed fee, and £15 million is in add-ons, according to the report.

Arsenal previously sent an £80 million bid for Rice, including add-ons, but the offer was turned down. This new bid is also expected to be rejected, but the North London side are getting closer to West Ham's asking price.

The 22-year-old centre-back was close to joining Manchester United following Erik ten Hag's appointment last summer, but a deal did not materialise.

He has since been linked with the club, but per recent reports, he could be playing for the North Londoners next season.
