Finally: Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in high spirits ahead Super Falcons clash
Pulse Sports Nigeria was on the ground in Ijebu Ode to witness the final training sessions of the Indomitable Lionesses ahead of their highly anticipated international friendly against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
Originally planned as a two-legged affair, the first leg was cancelled while the second was revised, but the setback has not dampened the Lionesses’ spirits as they prepare to face the Falcons in Abeokuta.
During their final training session on Monday evening in Ijebu Ode, the Cameroonian squad was seen dancing, smiling, and enjoying themselves, showing a positive and united team atmosphere.
Some players even expressed their admiration for Nigeria, highlighting the friendly yet competitive nature of the encounter.
In a related development, Cameroon goalkeeper Bawou Ange Gabrielle confidently predicted victory for the Lionesses ahead of the match scheduled for Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
Speaking to Pulse Sports Nigeria, Bawou emphasised the significance of the game as a key test for Cameroon’s ongoing rebuilding project.
“We are working on a great project. There are many good prospects ahead of us, and Nigeria is a great opponent to test our progress,” she said.
The friendly is an important tune-up for the Super Falcons as they gear up for their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign, where they aim to extend their record with a 10th African title.
For Cameroon, who missed out on WAFCON qualification, the match is part of their preparation for upcoming qualifiers and a long-term rebuilding strategy.
Despite recent challenges, the Indomitable Lionesses remain optimistic about their future and are determined to make a strong statement against their West African rivals in this eagerly awaited clash.
