Former England Star Nears Dream of Playing Alongside Son
Advances in sports medicine over recent years have significantly extended the careers of footballers, making it increasingly possible to see fathers and sons play together professionally.
One such scenario is drawing closer to reality at Ipswich, a club currently competing in the Championship. Tyler Young, son of former England international Ashley Young, has signed a contract with the Tractor Boys following a successful trial period.
Initially, Tyler will feature for the U21 squad, but his father, despite being 40 years old, shows no signs of slowing down: he has already made five appearances this season, two of them as a starter.

Ashley and Tyler's Dream Was Curtailed in January
Who knows, perhaps this very season, father and son will take to the pitch together in an Ipswich shirt...
Tyler and Ashley came close to playing against each other in January this year when Everton, who the 40-year-old was playing for at the time, and the youngster's former club Peterborough collided in an FA Cup tie.
However, Tyler was an unused substitute, a decision that saw Peterborough coach Darren Ferguson heavily criticised, but the two could now make it a reality at Ipswich.
