One of Antony’s accusers drops case against Manchester United winger
Some reprieve for Manchester United as one of the ladies who accused Brazilian winger Antony of physical assault has dropped her case against the Premier League star.
Antony accused of assault by multiple women
Antony has been accused by three women so far, including his most recent ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, who alleged that the Manchester United forward assaulted her on four separate occasions.
Cavillan has lodged a complaint with the Manchester police against the 23-year-old former Ajax forward and was the first of three women to publicly accuse Antony of assault during their relationship.
She was later joined by Ingrid Lana, who gave a TV interview in which she accused Antony of assault which nearly took her life, as well as Rayssa de Freitas, who said the Manchester United winger attacked her in a car in May last year.
Antony’s accuser withdraws case against Manchester United star
The latter accuser has reportedly decided to withdraw her case against Antony, filed in Sao Paulo Brazil, although the reason for the withdrawal remains unclear.
The Telegraph reports that Rayssa de Freitas’ claim involves her being assaulted by Antony and another individual in the Premier League star’s car, which resulted in her needing hospital treatment.
However, the Law student has now retracted her case against Antony, leaving the Manchester United star battling against only two other accusers in what must come as some relief to the Red Devils.
According to the Telegraph, Manchester United had no idea that these complaints against Antony existed until the people involved came forward to the media with their accusations, despite conducting background checks on the Brazilian winger before his £85 million move from Ajax.
