Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has launched a lawsuit against Galatasaray, seeking £41,500 in damages for what he claims are attacks on his personal rights.

The dramatic move comes after Galatasaray accused Mourinho of making racist statements following a heated Istanbul derby that ended in a 0-0 draw.

Mourinho's comments, which included describing the Galatasaray bench as "jumping like monkeys," led to a four-match ban and a £35,218 fine from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for derogatory remarks about Turkish referees.

Despite these penalties, Mourinho has chosen to fight back, with Fenerbahce confirming that he is suing Galatasaray as reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria.

Galatasaray accused Mourinho of racism, prompting the TFF to impose a ban and fine.

The club has also threatened to file complaints with FIFA and UEFA over Mourinho's behaviour.

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba came out to defend Mourinho, stating that he is not a racist and that history supports this claim.

The club maintains that Mourinho's comments were taken out of context and distorted, and they have appealed the ban imposed on him.
